Beaver Bog

My watercolor painting, "Beaver Bog", was inspired by an image I took at a friend's nature conservancy of an actual beaver bog. The colors of the algae and foliage were so intense that I knew I had to paint the scene. The dead trees in the background and the lush foliage in the foreground were of so many different shades and such contrast to each other. I started with a value drawing then painted color samples to get the exact shades I wanted. My goal was to use colors that were more vivid than the original image to give the painting more vibrancy.
